Reach

With operational teams spread across the UK, Wilson & Scott faced longstanding challenges in managing and reporting information between office staff and field teams. Recognising the need to modernise their processes, the company sought a mobile solution to enhance perational efficiency and communication.

Founded in 1952, Wilson & Scott has grown into one of the UK’s largest line marking companies. Operating over 65 line painting vehicles and employing more than 160 staff, the company has over 70 years of experience marking roads, highways,
and car parks.

Historically, Wilson & Scott relied heavily on paper documentation, which was sent back and forth via the postal system. This created multiple inefficiencies:

● Duplicate data entry both on-site and in the office.
● Risk of lost paperwork in vehicles.
● Delays in communication between teams and head office.

Additionally, the company needed a solution that could:

● Standardise communication across the workforce.
● Reduce client disputes by providing verifiable records of work completed.
● Streamline staff Daily Record Sheets.
● Distribute critical health & safety instructions that could be acknowledged in real time.
● Ensure all job-critical data was captured before work commenced and before submission of worksheets.

The Solution

In 2012, Wilson & Scott introduced an eletronic reporting system for their operational teams. A complementary mobile application for Android tablets and smartphones was developed with Triangle Software to facilitate seamless data transfer between the field and the office.

Key features of the solution include:

Integration with the back office management system for a fully electronic, paperless workflow covering customer enquiries, estimating, orders, delivery, recording, invoicing, and accounts.
Digital capture of safety critical data and qualifications, reducing the risk of disputes over work completed.
Remote access to data: vehicle defect reports, risk assessments, client orders, work instructions, and health & safety information.
GPS tracking of tablets to monitor worker locations and ensure safety.

This system enabled real time, standardised communication, improved compliance, and ensured all operational data was accurate and up to date.
