Formulate FAQs
What is Formulate?
Formulate is a powerful web and mobile platform that allows organisations to design, manage, and complete custom forms. It includes flexible form creation tools, workflow automation, mobile-friendly submissions, and an advanced permission and auditing system.
Who is Formulate designed for?
Formulate is ideal for teams that need to collect structured data in the field or office — including inspections, checklists, audits, surveys, compliance tasks, and job-based workflows.
How does the Form Editor work?
Our drag-and-drop Form Editor lets administrators create unlimited forms using a wide range of field types. Forms can be updated at any time and instantly made available to mobile users.
What are Navigation Groups?
Navigation Groups let you organise forms into logical categories and control which users can access them. Administrators can assign users to any number of groups, ensuring everyone sees only the forms relevant to their role.
What is a Workflow (Scheduled Job)?
A workflow is a scheduled or unscheduled collection of forms grouped into a structured process. You can control:
Whether forms must be completed in sequence
How many times each form can be submitted
Which users are responsible for completing specific forms
Workflows can be scheduled for specific times or simply assigned through Navigation Groups for on-demand use.
Can form elements respond to user interactions?
Yes. Formulate allows you to attach events to form elements so they can dynamically react as users fill out the form. Events can:
Show or hide fields.
Make fields required or optional.
Enable or disable elements.
Change behaviour based on values entered in other fields.
This makes forms smarter, more intuitive, and easier for users to complete accurately.
What automation tools does Formulate offer?
Formulate includes powerful automation features such as Submission Triggers. These allow you to automatically send emails when forms are submitted — and even analyse form content to determine whether an email should be triggered.
Can I export submission data?
Yes. Formulate includes robust export tools. You can export submissions instantly (ad-hoc) or create scheduled exports to run automatically at set intervals.
Can I integrate Formulate with other systems?
Formulate provides multiple data export options and can be extended with automation hooks. If you need a specific integration, our team can help you explore options.
What is Formulate LINKER?
LINKER is Formulate’s integration service that connects your Formulate environment with third-party systems. It allows Formulate data — such as form submissions, workflows, or files — to be injected into external applications, cloud storage, CRMs, ERPs, and other platforms.
